Women's Portrait Artist Richmond, VA

You've been hidden long enough

You didn't lose yourself. You disappeared inside the roles, responsibilities, and expectations that made everyone else's life work.

-Portraiture for women who are done disappearing-

You don't need another reason to be photographed.

YOU DIDN'T DISAPPEAR.

You became very good at being needed.

Wife. Mother. Boss. Caregiver. Problem solver. The one who remembers. The one who handles it.

You built a beautiful life. And somewhere inside all that becoming, you became harder and harder to find inside it.

You catch yourself in the mirror and have that strange little moment: Who the hell is that? And where did I go?

Here's the part I want you to know:

You didn't go anywhere.

You've been here the whole time.

You've just spent years looking at yourself through everyone else's needs.

You don't need permission to be visible again. You don't need to lose the weight first. You don't need a birthday, an anniversary, a business milestone, or a better version of yourself. And you certainly don't need to become someone new.

You need to see the woman who's already here.

That's what we photograph.

How long are you going to keep waiting for permission to be visible in your own life?

HOW MUCH LONGER?

There is always a reason to wait.

Until the weight is gone.

Until the kids are older.

Until work settles down.

Until you feel more confident.

Until you have something worth celebrating.

Until you look like the woman you think you should be by now.

And meanwhile, you keep taking photographs of everyone else.

You are the missing person in your own family archive.

That is not a photography problem. It's what happens when you've spent so long being everything to everyone that being seen starts to feel optional.

It isn't.

You don't need to become more worthy of the photograph. You need to stop making your visibility conditional.

That's what we're doing here. Not manufacturing a better version of you.

Photographing the one who's already here.

Love Notes From Clients

I decided to book a boudoir session with Ginger Jones/422 Studio because I wanted to see myself in a new light and I am so glad I did. Ginger made me feel comfortable and confident (and sexy!) throughout the entire process. She and hair/makeup guru Kimmy are a great team and are sure to make anyone feel their best. If you are at all considering a photo session, I would highly recommend Ginger. She is professional, kind, funny, and engaging. She also takes great photos! She will ensure that the results of your collaboration are amazing.

LYNSEY B.

I walked into my boudoir session with Ginger definitely a little out of my element, but Ginger and her team immediately made me feel comfortable and confident. Her encouragement and energy helped me relax and actually enjoy the experience. My cake smash at the end captured my real smile and felt like the perfect way to mark closing a chapter and moving forward. I also loved sitting down together to look through the photos and talk about the story I was hoping to capture. I left feeling more confident in my own body and really grateful for the experience.

They should really allow more them 5 stars!!!!! This marks my third session with Ginger, and I am consistently impressed. I have never experienced such a profound sense of empowerment, beauty, and overall well-being. Her service consistently exceeds expectations, delivering nothing short of excellence. The experience was also characterized by an enjoyable and engaging environment. Will I do it again? Oh, you can bet on it!

TIANA S.

When I decided on doing a boudoir shoot, my goal was to feel sexy and desirable— not to anyone else, but to me! My body has gone through so many changes and phases, and in this new season of life, I have loose skin and stretch marks and struggled with what I saw in the mirror. Seeing the proofs during the final part of photoshoot day, was…..indescribable. I saw myself through Ginger’s eyes, and who she helped me see was someone who was powerful and sensual. I connected to my sexuality...

Hi, I'm Ginger

I've been photographing women for 19 years. And somewhere along the way, I realized I wasn't really interested in making women look beautiful. There are plenty of people who can do that.

I'm interested in what happens when a woman stops apologizing for wanting to be seen. Because I've watched women disappear. Not literally. They're right there — building businesses, raising children, caring for parents, holding marriages together, leading teams, remembering everyone's birthdays and somehow keeping the whole damn thing moving.

But ask them when they were last photographed just because they wanted to be. Silence. I've been that woman, too.

That's why I do this.

Not to give you a confidence boost.

Not to make you look like somebody else.

And not to create photographs of some imaginary future version of you.

I want you to see the woman who's been there the entire time. The one underneath all the roles. The one who still has something to say. The one who doesn't need permission anymore.

That's the woman I want in front of my camera.

SIGNATURE SESSIONS

You don't have to choose between Beauty, Boudoir, Fine Art, Glamour, or Maternity.

We build the session around the woman you want to see in the photographs.

Maybe she's bold.

Maybe she's sensual.

Maybe she's soft.

Maybe she's impossible to ignore.

We don't need to put her in a category before we photograph her.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Below you'll find a few of the most frequently asked questions I get. Have other questions? Start a conversation.

Question: What if I hate being photographed?

You're not alone. Most of my clients have told me they hate being photographed. We take great care to make sure this experience leaves you loving your images so much that you can't stop looking at them.

Question : What if I don't feel beautiful right now?

You don't have to feel beautiful. Just like you don't have to feel confident. Our planning session allows me to curate an experience that that will shift how you see yourself.

Question: What if I'm not comfortable showing much skin?

No problem! You lead the way on how much or how little skin you want to show. You don't have to strip down to express yourself. Beauty exists within you even when you're fully clothed.

Question: I'm nervous about being photographed. Is that normal?

Not only is it normal but the vast majority of my clients feel the same way. We do a few things to help minimize nerves. First, your discovery call. This initial call gives us a chance to chat before you get on my schedule so I can learn exactly what you want from this session. Next, the design consultation via Zoom, where we'll talk about what you want to feel when you see your images. We'll talk about what to wear, how to highlight what you want to highlight, and what concerns you have. You can email me with any questions you've got beforehand, too. The day of your photo shoot you'll spend the first hour and a half in the styling chair chatting with me and my team while you get camera ready. It's a great way to get the last bit of nerves out before we start creating. By the time you're in front of my camera you'll be ready for your big moment.

Question: "I'm plus size" and/or "I'm over 30" can I still do this.

Hey, me too! Hell yeah you can do this. And you'll be so happy that you did. This isn't an amusement park so there are no size requirements. And there is no upper age limit on feeling beautiful so get in here. You do have to be 21+ for a boudoir photography experience with me though.

Question: Do you offer artwork or just digital files?

This work is meant to live with you, in print. Right on your wall where you can see it daily. I offer wall art in addition to custom designed albums or folio boxes. You decide which pieces suit you best. You'll also receive the digital file of each image you purchase.

YOU'VE BEEN WAITING LONG ENOUGH.

Not for the perfect body.

Not for more confidence.

Not for a better reason.

For permission.

You don't need it.

Let's photograph you.
